I wanted to begin a healing process with something that I believed came very natural to me. Except, in the beginning of my despair, nothing came natural and everything in my life felt foreign. At a point, I felt a little like me again. When I finally could piece together something to say, I produced one little line. I slowly made progress to three, and here we are, with a beginning to a collection of Haikus. Notoriously known for its strict 5,7,5 / 3 lined structure, It’s been a challenge to focus in on such happy/sad/moving/bittersweet moments in so few words (or syllables). The Haiku may look simple on surface, yet when looking closely enough, you find possesses everything you need.
I’ll be publishing these poems over no set time – just a slow build to this collection.
